SisQo marries longtime fiance Elizabeth Pham

Veteran R&B star, SisQo has married his longtime fiance Elizabeth Pham. According to an exclusive  US Weekly  report, The Dru Hills singer tied the knot with Elizabeth in an intimate Catholic ceremony in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Friday, August 17 after their 4-year engagement. Speaking on the proposal in a podcast with US Weekly, SisQo revealed that he and Elizabeth have been dating on and off for 15 years but the decision to pop the question was solidified after they welcomed their daughter Koko in 2014. On the proposal, he shared: I proposed and I got, like, a big, fat rock. I did it kinda cool, because I felt like our son [Ryu] was the one that kinda saved [us] … I sent him in with a ring box, and she looked into the box and didn’t see anything … She then went to look for me to figure out what’s going on. She came around the corner, and I was one knee and I asked her and she said ‘Yes!’”

Abuja Building Collapse: NEMA confirms one dead, residents say many buried, Osinbajo visits site (Photos)

One person was confirmed dead after a three-storey building under construction collapsed in the Jabi area of the Federal Capital Territory on Friday. The National Emergency Management Agency only one person died in the building collapse, but residents say at least 10 persons remained under the rubble. Punch  had reported on Friday that 25 others were trapped. Rescue officials were said to have rescued about six persons while a corpse has been evacuated. Earlier reports also said two people died but NEMA said that could not be confirmed. At a press conference Saturday, Mustapha Maihaja, the director general of NEMA said besides the single fatality, one other person was critically injured and five others rescued alive at the site in Jabi, Abuja. But residents rejected the claim, and complained about the rescue effort. But multiple witnesses who spoke to  Premium Times  insisted that more than 10 people were trapped in the debris as at Saturday morning when rescue efforts ended.

Former UN Sec. Gen Kofi Annan is dead

Former Secretary-General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan, is dead. Annan spent two terms as the head of the world diplomacy body, stepping down in 2006. The death of the former UN Scribe was confirmed on his verified twitter handle by his family. The Kofi Annan Foundation said the former UN boss, who won the Nobel Peace Prize for humanitarian work, died on Saturday aged 80. He died in Switzerland, after a brief illness, according to a tweet by the Foundation "It is with immense sadness that the Annan family and the Kofi Annan  Foundation announce that Kofi Annan, former Secretary General of the  United Nations and Nobel Peace Laureate, passed away peacefully on  Saturday 18th August after a short illness,"  the Foundation tweeted. The Ghanaian was the second African to head the UN after Egypian Boutrous Boutrous Ghali, who was in charge between January 1992 to December 1996.  His tenure as UN secretary-general coincided with the Iraq War and the HIV/Aids pandemic.
