Colombians told 'no sex' is best heatwave relief

Image
Couples have been told sex is 'no problem' if they have air conditioningl Locals in a city on the coast of Colombia have been told to stop having sex to ensure they stay cool during a scorching 40C (104F) heatwave. Julio Salas - the health secretary of Santa Marta - was met with laughter and disbelief when he issued the novel advice, which he listed alongside other tips like wearing loose clothing and drinking plenty of water. According to national news website El Heraldo, Mr Salas said he thought avoiding sex was logical - in the same way people would not take part in strenuous exercise in extreme heat. Temperatures have hit 40C in Santa Marta The American Heart Association considers sex a "moderate physical activity", meaning it puts as much of a strain on the heart as walking up two flights of stairs. Mr Salas said if people find it too much of a struggle to abstain from sex, then they should at least wait until the sun goes down as "it is better to do

Hungry Thief Wanted After Nearly $100,000 Worth Of Ramen Noodles Stolen

Image
A thief with a hankering for soup is afoot in Georgia after police in Fayette County discovered someone had stolen nearly $100,000 worth of ramen noodles. Deputies are looking into the theft of a large trailer holding the massive amounts of soup, according to Fox 5 Atlanta. The 53-foot trailer was parked at a Chevron store on Georgia Interstate Highway 85 north. The theft occurred sometime between July 25 and Aug. 1. The local sheriff said the trailer had been secured at the time. The owner of the trailer estimated that $98,000 worth of ramen was onboard. What does one do with that much ramen? We don’t know! We also don’t know whether or not the brand of ramen noodles was Maruchan or Top Ramen or another brand. However, one pack of Maruchan goes for 29 cents so you can just imagine the sheer volume of noodles that was stolen for it to be equivalent to $98,000. In addition to the ramen heist, the police are also investigating a string of other thefts, including five car break

Aretha Franklin Queen of Soul dies at 76

Image
Aretha Franklin, universally acclaimed as the “Queen of Soul” and one of America’s greatest singers in any style, died on Thursday at her home in Detroit. She was 76. The cause was advanced pancreatic cancer, her publicist, Gwendolyn Quinn, said. In her indelible late-1960s hits, Ms. Franklin brought the righteous fervor of gospel music to secular songs that were about much more than romance. Hits like “Do Right Woman — Do Right Man,” “Think,” “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” and “Chain of Fools” defined a modern female archetype: sensual and strong, long-suffering but ultimately indomitable, loving but not to be taken for granted. When Ms. Franklin sang “ Respect ,” the Otis Redding song that became her signature, it was never just about how a woman wanted to be greeted by a spouse coming home from work. It was a demand for equality and freedom and a harbinger of feminism, carried by a voice that would accept nothing less. Image Ms. Franklin singing “America the Beautifu
