CREDIT: TORONTO FILM FESTIVAL Netflix  has bought worldwide rights to Genevieve Nnaji’s comedy “ Lionheart ” on the eve of its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Netflix  announced the deal Friday. The film will premiere at TIFF on Saturday. “Lionheart” marks the first Netflix original film from Nigeria. Nnaji stars with Nkem Owoh, Pete Edochie, and Onyeka Onwenu. The story follows a daughter who’s forced to work with her feckless uncle in order to save her father’s ailing bus company. Nnaji plays Adaeze, a level-headed executive in her father’s bus company, Lionheart Transport. When her father (played by Edochie) falls ill, both she and her rival (Kalu Egbui Ikeagwu) are passed over in favor of the uncle, played by Owoh. Complications arise when they discover that the family business is in dire financial straits — leading to absurd results as they try to save the company. Ariana Grande's ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller died on Friday, aged just 26. The rapper, real name Malcolm James McCormick, was was found at around noon at his San Fernando Valley home and was pronounced dead at the scene following an apparent drug overdose, TMZ reports. Mac had been having trouble with substance abuse recently following his break up from Ariana. His most recent album, Swimming, was just released on August 3 and was due to go on tour next month. On Thursday night, Mac had posted a video of a record player with a song from one of his albums playing. In his last post on Twitter, he told his followers: "I just wanna go on tour." There were also references to premature death. Speaking about it, he once told Vulture: "I used to rap super openly about really dark shit." Mac also opened up about how the public perceived him.  -   A man has been killed while fighting a man he caught having sex with his wife at their home in Umoja estate, Nairobi. The deceased identified as Dickson Jared Samba met his sad fate on Thursday, September 6, at around midnight, moments after getting home from a hang out with friends at a local entertainment joint. He reportedly returned home to find another man having sex his wife. A fight between him and his wife’s lover ensued and they took it to the balcony where the lover overpowered the husband and pushed him over the rails of the balcony of the 4th floor. The deceased fell head first and landed on a rail where he bled out and died on the spot.

Harrysong's management some hours ago, released a statement over an Instagram post the singer published on Wednesday. Harrysong had his fans worried after he shared a post talking about his depression.  A statement by Alterplate Spokesman, Desmond China, said the singer had been suffering depression but that arrangements have been made to provide him psychological help. Harrysong has now revealed that he’s undergoing some therapy sessions in a bid to get his feet back on the ground. He posted a photo on Instagram with a therapist and captioned: Thank you so much guys. My session with Miss. Oyinkansola Alabi went well and I am gradually getting my feet back. Theo Ukpaa, Emilia Samuel, Lnda Ikeji Popular blogger, Linda Ikeji, has written an open letter to hir former senior staff, Theo Ukpaa, who is facing allegation of rape. One Emilia Samuel had accused Theo of raping her and taking her virginity away at just the age of 16. The allegation against Ukpaa came just two days after his wedding. Emilia, who is now married with two children, had revealed that her path and Theo’s crossed when she made it to the top three of a spice girl competition organised by entertainment channel, Soundcity. Emilia had in a  post on Instagram  revealed that she already went past the trauma but had to relive it when she came across Theo Ukpaa on social media. However, Ukpaa released a statement, stating that it would have been “entirely impossible” for him to have raped Emilia at the time. The FCT Emergency Management Agency, FEMA, has released an official statement highlighting safety tips, after the earth tremors in Mpape and its environs on Thursday. FEMA also assured residents of the territory that there was no likelihood of earthquake within the territory and the country. Residents of the Federal Capital Territory were alarmed by the sudden earth movement in the affected areas which was their first experience in many years. The tremor instilled fear in residents, resulting in confusion about the cause of the terrific happening around them. Here's the statement from FEMA. The Director-General of the agency, Abass Idris, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, on Friday in Abuja, said there was no cause for alarm. According to him, the earth-shaking around Mpape and some parts of Maitama district does not imply that the FCT and indeed the country is under the threat of earthquake, saying that the agency is in firm control of the situation.

Arsenal FC has signed a 9-year-old Nigerian footballer, Jayden Adetiba. The Nigeria-born youngster was signed in South Africa after spending five weeks on trial. Prior to the new deal, Adetiba played for SuperSport United Soccer School. Confirming the report, Jayden’s father John Adetiba shared on Twitter “the little man joins the big club,” alongside a photo of the young player. A Chief Magistrate’s Court in Lagos has ordered the arrest of Eniola, the son of Globacom chairman, Mike Adenuga. The Chief Magistrate, Mr T.A. Elias, in a ruling declared that the 28-year-old was in contempt of court for refusing to give the custody of his child, Anthena, to the mother, Damilola. Elias said Eniola should be arrested until he gives, “full custody of the subject (Anthena) to the respondent (Damilola).” Punch reports that Eniola and Damilola dated, and within the period, the 25-year-old became pregnant and had the child. In September 2017, a Tinubu Magistrate’s Court gave an interim order which awarded the custody of the child to the mother. While Eniola was given unrestricted access to the child, he was, however, asked to pick her every Friday and return her to the mother on Sunday. The Director of Media for the Buhari Campaign Organisation, Festus Keyamo, on Friday admitted that not all “steps and decisions” taken by President Muhammadu Buhari government that are right. Keyamo said despite some of the errors,Buhari’s personal integrity stands tall above all his political opponents. The Senior Advocate of Nigeria stated this in a series of tweets, via his Twitter handle. He also alleged that there was a gang up against the President, ahead of 2019 elections. Serena Williams trounces Sevastova to book a place in the US Open final Serena Williams made it a walk-in-the-park affair on Thursday night,  trouncing Latvian Anastasija Sevastova in two straight sets to book her deserved place in the US Open final. In just a little over one hour, the 23 Grand slam winner saw off her opponent, 6-3 6-0 to contend for the trophy she last won in 2014. She was the winner in 1999, 2002, 2008, 2012, 2013, 2014. Playing with the same gusto she dealt with older sister Venus, in the fourth round, Serena dominated her opponent, spraying winners after winners, in her record ninth semi-final at Flushing Meadows and 12th overall. Sevastova only broke her once in the first set. From then on, Serena took cruise control. By the victory, Serena has also made a ninth final at the US Open. She now awaits the winner of the second semi-final match between American Madison Keys, finalist last year and rising Japanese star, Naomi Osaka.
