UEFA has shortlisted Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid/Juventus and Portugal), Mohammed Salah (Liverpool and Egypt), and Luka Modrić (Real Madrid and Croatia) for its Men’s Player of the Year award. In a statement on monday , UEFA said “the winner will be named – along with the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year and UEFA Champions League positional award winners – during the group stage draw in Monaco on Thursday 30 August,” adding that “The UEFA Europa League Player of the Season will be announced the following day.” According to UEFA, “The award recognises the best players, irrespective of nationality, playing for a club within the territory of a UEFA member association during the past season. FIFA has confirmed that Nigeria will not be banned, following the intervention of the federal government. FIFA initially made public its plan to suspend Nigeria from all football-related activities if the leadership of Nigeria Football Federation is not returned to Amaju Pinnick and Mohammed Sanusi who it recognises as the authentic president and scribe for the NFF. Earlier in the day, the Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, disclosed that the federal government had done the needful by recognising Mr Pinnick as NFF boss, as instructed by FIFA. He said the federal government had already conveyed its position to the world football governing body that it would continue to work with stakeholders to resolve the federation’s dispute in due time. New Zealand is really an interesting country where the 'unusual' happens Just few weeks after New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern returned to work after having her first child in office, the country's Minister for Women Julie Anne Genter’s bicycle ride to the hospital to give birth is making headlines around the world. Genter, who is also Associate Transport Minister posted a photo of her and her bike  on Instagram , saying she and her partner had to take the bike because there wasn’t enough room in the car for the support crew. Genter is 42 weeks pregnant with their first child and she says she was going to the hospital for an induction. “Beautiful Sunday morning for a bike ride, to the hospital, for an induction to finally have this baby. This is it, wish us luck! (My partner and I cycled because there wasn’t enough room in the car for the support crew… but it also put me in the best possible mood),” she wrote.
