Woman arrested for stabbing her husband whom she said called another woman's name during sex

A 39 year old woman, Christina Balazi, has been arrested for attempted murder after her husband Christopher was stabbed in the neck and chest in the frenzied attackclaims she stabbed her husband with a kitchen knife multiple times after he yelled out another woman's name during sex. Mr Balazi told police he and his wife of 10 years had been in bed together when suddenly she pulled a sheet over his head and started stabbing him with a kitchen knife. He wrestled her to the ground and snatched the knife from her grip before managing to run outside for help. As his wife chased after him she shouted: "I'm tired of this."Mrs Balazi, from West Palm Beach, Florida, got into her car and attempted to flee but was stopped and arrested after a police chase. Police said she admitted stabbing her husband and said it was because he had said the name of another woman in bed. Mr Balazi was treated for seven stab wounds at a local hospital . '600 teachers killed by Boko Haram, 19,000 displaced' - NUT

The National President of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, (NUT), Comrade Michael Olukoya, on Monday, October 5, said that the union has lost over 600 of its members to Boko Haram attacks, Daily Trust reports. Olukoya made the statement during the 2015 World Teachers' Day celebration in Ado Ekiti. According to him, 308 teachers were killed in Borno, 75 in Adamawa, 18 in Yobe, 25 in Kaduna, 120 in Plateau, 63 in Kano and two in Gombe states. The figure is in addition to the 19,000 teachers that had been displaced and are suffering great losses due to the activities of the of insurgents, he said. While calling on the federal government to beef up security around public schools in the country in order to prevent further loss of lives, the NUT boss also urged the government to increase teachers retirement age to 65, to prevent premature retirement and retention of matured and experienced individuals in the system as a way of arresting the falling standard of education in Nigeria.

Kogi State APC Chairman, Alhaji Hadi Ametuo, has assured Kogi people that his party’s candidate in the forthcoming governorship poll, Prince Audu Abubakar, would return the over N11 billion he allegedly stole while in office. Audu is being prosecuted by the anti-graft agency, EFCC, for misappropriating N11 billion of the states’s funds while he was governor between 1999 and 2003. Responding to the questions from the media regarding Audu’s 11billion naira EFCC case, he said “Nobody is a saint. No governor can claim he has not done any malpractice or stolen anything during his time in the office. “We heard of Saraki’s case, even Tinubu is being accused of stealing funds but the truth is that Prince Abubakar Audu has pledged to return the money to the Kogi treasury when he gets elected on the November 21st, yes he will return the 11billion naira or even more than that and that will add to the Kogi economy”. See Faces Of Boko Haram Members Behind Abuja Explosions Following last Friday’s multiple suicide bombings in Nyanya and Kuje areas of Abuja, which left 18 people dead and 45 injured, Boko Haram militants, claiming loyalty to Islamic State (Isis), in a statement, yesterday on Twitter, said they were behind the bombings. Recall that sometime in March 2015, Boko Haram renamed itself Islamic State’s West Africa Province (Iswap). The leader of Isis, a militant group that controls parts of Syria and Iraq, however accepted the pledge of allegiance from Boko Haram, in May 2015. Eventhough, the authenticity of the statement, which issued under the name Iswap, could not be verified, the group released the photos of three male suicide bombers who it said were behind Friday’s deadly attacks.

The minority leader of the House of Representatives Hon. Leo Ogor was quoted as saying that the national assembly was proposing to amend the constitution to grant immunity to the presiding officers as well as the head of the judiciary as enjoy ed by the president t and his vice and governors and their deputy. But speaking with Vanguard in Abuja, respondents said the move was not borne out of altruism.
