Demi Lovato's assistant initially 'thought she was dead' after drug overdose before bodyguard 'saved her life' with first aid
Demi Lovato's assistant 'thought the singer was dead following her drug overdose last month that led to her being hospitalised'.
Sources told TMZ the PA was found screaming: 'She's dead, she's dead,' before a bodyguard rushed to the singer's side and performed first aid.
It's claimed the bodyguard 'saved Demi's life', as he 'attempted to clear her airways to allow her to breathe' before paramedics had arrived at the scene.
Paramedics were called to the former Disney star's $8.3million four-bedroom Hollywood Hills mansion on July 24 and are believed to have revived an 'unconscious' Demi with the opiate antidote Narcan.
Prior to their arrival, TMZ claims Demi was found with 'vomit' and 'blood on her pillow' and 'appeared not to be breathing'. Sources claim she was 'saved' by her quick-thinking bodyguard who 'propped' Lovato up and administered some form of first aid.
The latest reports come after it was revealed Demi is set to leave hospital 'this week' as her recovery continues.
The singer is reportedly being urged by her friends and family to enter rehab on her exit.
Previous reports claimed Lovato's entourage have 'threatened to quit' if she doesn't check herself into rehab, with a pal saying: 'She could die if she doesn't, and that's not going to be on my watch that we did nothing.'
It has since been reported that Demi has 'agreed' to enter rehabilitation and plans have been made with a facility. TMZ claims the actress is set to enter a live-in rehabilitation facility directly from hospital.
Sources allege Demi's friends and family had delayed broaching the subject of rehab with the starlet, for fears it would have caused conflict, but have since spoken with her.
Demi is still recovering in Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles, where she has been under medical supervision, with reports alleging the star is suffering from 'a very high fever and extreme nausea'.
Friends of the star have told People they think the only way Demi can get better is 25-year-old to 'completely quit show business', claiming: 'She needs to get out of this whole system that she has been in since she was 13.'
The source added that Demi will now have to make some good decisions, adding: 'In the end she has to want to get help. She can't be forced into treatment. It won't work.
'It's too soon to say what the next steps are in terms of treatment. Everyone just wants to help get her to a healthy place.'
