Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams launches Daisie app

Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams has launched her first non-acting venture.

Maisie announced a new app called Daisie, which she co-founded alongside Dom Santry, on Wednesday. The app aims to bring creatives across industries together to share their work and set up potential collaborations.

According to Business Insider, Maisie met Dom — a camera loader — on the set of the Netflix film, iBoy. The pair shared a feeling that they had creative friends, perhaps more talented than they, who couldn’t seem to get their ideas off the ground.

They founded a film production company called Daisy Chain Productions, which will debut its first film at the Savannah Film Festival this October. After forming this conglomerate, the pair set their sights on something even bigger.

Per the outlet, Maisie and Dom were having a chat about the shortcomings of the entertainment industry over beers at her apartment when Dom pitched Daisie, which he initially thought would be a website.

Dom imagined Daisie as a place where creative people could come to share their work and ideas with others who could help by giving feedback or linking up with the person offline.

Maisie’s major role in the app was to help the idea catch on by sharing it with her massive follower-base.

With the help of fellow Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner, Maisie and Dom put out an initiative called the Daisie 100, which called artists to submit their work so they could select the 100 most talented to be the first users on the app.

Maisie and Dom agreed that diversity in gender, race and the work they accepted was integral.

The 21-year-old actress told Business Insider: ‘We wanted to find 100 people who didn’t have any representation, who had no foothold in any industry, but were extremely talented.

‘And we wanted to bring diversity onto the app to set the tone for the standard of the work.’

They’re hopeful that one day Daisie and Daisy Chain Productions can help launch the careers of people hoping to get into movies or TV.

‘We have all these incredibly talented people, and we can potentially make their movies with a budget and with production value,’ Maisie said.
