Courtois reminded about the awful things he said about Real Madrid fans
It appears it’s not only Chelsea fans ticked off by the behaviour of Thibaut Courtois.
The Real Madrid-bound goalkeeper has left a sour taste in the mouth after going AWOL in his attempt to push through a move to Spain.
His departure will end up costing the club a bomb with replacement Kepa Arrizabalaga setting them back around £50m more than what they’ll recoup.
Atletico supporters are far from happy that a club legend has signed for their bitter rivals.
His move to Los Blancos is seen as a betrayal – so the fans have been working hard to let Courtois know his return Madrid will not be made easy.
The Belgian won an awful lot at Atleti, the La Liga title in 2014, the Copa del Ray, the Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup.
But those honours haven’t spared him from a little reminder of something he said during one of those celebration parties.
Back in 2013, Courtois let rip at Real fans – and it doesn’t made for good reading.
One prominent Atletico fan on twitter has a long memory and the account they sent him a message within an hour of signing.
Popular account @AtleticoFans were not about to let him forget.
It read: “Hey @thibautcourtois just a little reminder of that time you stood on the Madrid town hall balcony and told Real fans to “f*** themselves up the ***”. Thought you’d like to remember it.”
Courtois will be praying he gets off to a good start, and that the Madrid fans are easily won over!
