Leicester City’s Iheanacho targets another Old Trafford goal vs. Manchester United
Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho hopes to score Manchester United when both sides clash in the 2018-19 Premier League's season opener on Friday evening.
Almost two years ago, while at Manchester City, the Nigeria international notched the matchwinner against United in a 2-1 derby win at Old Trafford.
And the attacker who has been in terrific form, scoring four goals in three games in pre-season is looking to continue on the same wavelength against the Red Devils.
“I think everyone is looking forward to that game. Coming from Man City to Leicester and playing against Man United I think the City fans are going to support us in that game.” Iheanacho told The Mirror.
“I scored against United in the derby so it was a good experience and I am looking forward to hopefully doing it again.
“If I am chosen for the game against United I have to keep my goal-scoring record and work hard for the team.
“I would like to be part of it and am looking forward to it. I think it is going to be a big season for the whole team and we are in good shape now."
After moving from City last season, the forward suffered an injury on his Leicester debut which significantly affected his form.
But with no current fitness worry, he is set for a better performance this term.
“Last season it was difficult coming back from injury and trying to get the same fitness level. Sometimes things don’t go the way you want. But it is looking good this season," he continued.
“I am injury-free and will keep working hard and am looking forward to the games."
Iheanacho played all three of Nigeria’s games at the recently concluded World Cup in Russia and he is delighted with the experience gathered.
