Meghan Markle's father reveals Prince Harry warned him about his relationship with press
Meghan Markle's father, Thomas, has revealed that his son in-law, Prince Harry, told him to be very careful about his relationship with the press, when he (Harry) started dating his daughter.
Prince Harry knew only too well the media storm Meghan had ahead of her as his new girlfriend.
So he did what he could to prepare her for the drama to come, offering her advice and support.
But the new found interest didn't stop at Meghan, and people were also fascinated by her family.
Before their relationship was made public, Harry had spoken to her dad Thomas Markle on the phone several times.
And in one of these conversations Harry also offered his future father-in-law some advice, including a brutal warning.
He told him to be very, very careful about his relationship with the media.
Mr Markle told the Mail on Sunday : "Harry told me that I should never go to the press. That it would all end in tears.
"He said, "They will eat you alive". He was right."
Thomas completely ignored the prince's advice.
He met with photographers secretly and posed for a number of photos, including shots of him being fitted for a suit.
When he was caught and the story hit the headline few days to the royal wedding, he had another phone conversation with Meghan and Harry.
Thomas said he he hung up on Prince Harry during the heated telephone conversation about the paparazzi photos.
He claims Harry told him: "If you had listened to me, this would never had happened."
Mr Markle now responded: "Maybe it would be better for you guys if I was dead… then you could pretend to be sad."
He told the newspaper: "Then I hung up."
Mr Markle also admitted lying to Prince Harry, insisting the photos were not staged.
He said: "I'm not mad at Harry. I'm not mad at Meghan. I love them. I wish them well. But as for the rest of it, f*** it. I'm done."
The retired Hollywood lighting director also vowed the interview would be his last.
